Acer has officially launched its new Google Android powered LIQUID high-definition smartphone, which is also the first phone in the market running Google Android platform to use Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor, combining cutting-edge technologies, software innovation and an ultra-fluid user interface to create an all-new mobile experience.
Aimed at users demanding outstanding multimedia, web browsing, social media integration and video streaming, the new Acer Liquid phone is powered by 1-GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 Snapdragon Processor and comes with 256 MB RAM and 512 MB FLASH ROM with added support for microSD memory card allowing upto 32-GB storage.
Powered by 1-GH Smapdragon processor, the Acer LIQUID smartphone provides instant access to web pages, smooth streaming of videos or music , and instant response from popular mail, maps and search applications. The handset’s high-speed processing capability and high-speed internet access (HSPA) of Snapdragon brings to life the Google’s Android experience.
The Acer Liquid smartphone comes equipped with 3.5-inch WVGA (800 × 480) Capacitive Touchscreen and it runs Android 1.6 dubbed Donut, operating system with Acer’s custom Spinlets user interface skin on top with easy access to entertainment and web bookmarks. The smartphone has capacitive buttons for Home, Search, Back, and Menu options and it features several hardware buttons including Volume Up, Volume Down, Camera, and Power / Standby.
In addition, the Acer LIQUID phone comes with exclusive Spinlets applications that allows free streaming of worldwide music and video directly on handset, which can also be shared with friends and family through web-posting or e-mail. The handset also feature smart integration of popular social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Picasa and Flickr etc in the address book, with realtime notification of status or content updates.
Acer has also indicated that Liquid Android 1.6 would see upgrade to Android 2.0, dubbed Eclair, no later than March 2010 that would add support for features such as multi-touch. This upgrade is expected to be easy and straight-forward process, in view of recently held automated over-the-air update Google provided to upgrade HTC’s Magic and Hero range from Android 1.5 to Android 1.6.
Measuring 115 × 64 x 12.43 mm and weighing 165 gms with rechargeable batteries, the Android 1.6 powered Acer Liquid smartphone is GSM: Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz network ready and offers GPRS / EDGE: Class B, WiFi 802.11b/g Wi-Fi CERTIFIED network connection, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, and has built-in GPS receiver with AGPS.
Just like any other Android powered phones, users can expect great integration with Google’s email, calendar, contacts and Google Maps and many other Google Apps in addition to rapidly growing collection of applications from the Android Marketplace.
In addition, Acer Liquid is equipped with 5.0 Megapixel camera offering geo-tagging, ISO, self-timer options and accelerated auto-focus and also feature Accelerometer and light sensor technologies, 3.5 mm audio out port, and 3D graphics support.
Already available in India for Rs. 24,900/- with 2-GB microSD card, the Slim and stylish Acer LIQUID smartphone is available in Red, Black and White colors and it comes with 1350 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery that provides upto 6 hours of talktime.
