Nikon Announces 14 MP Coolpix s8000 Digital Camera Offering 10X Optical Zoom

Nikon has announced Coolpix S8000 Compact Digital Camera that features 14.2 Megapixel sensor, massive 10X optical zoom and it allows HD video recording in 720p @ 30 fps.

The Nikon S8000 camera has a refined design that makes it the thinnest in their class yet continue to offer quick response that captures fleeting moments, support for high sensitivities and a number of functions that reduce noise for blur compensation that results in beautiful images.

This new Nikon S8000 digital cameras provides users with innovative and fun features such as long zooms, speedy performance, advanced flash controls, touch-screen technology, and enhanced high resolution LCD display in a very sleek, stylish camera design and incorporates a series of automatic functions including in-camera-red-eye fix, improved Face-Priority AF, Face Priority AE, Smile Mode, Blink Warning and Skin Softening to flatter even the most camera-shy subject.

Blending innovation, design and performance, the Nikon S8000 offers users a compelling blend of cutting-edge photo capture technology and superior styling besides providing increased shooting flexibility in a number of settings via more improved Smart Auto mode while at the same tome offers greater photo personalization and enhanced creativity with new Scene Modes and Image effects.

The Nikon Coolpix S8000 has 32 MB internal memory with SD memory slot for expandable memory and it packs 14.2 Megapixel sensor with 10x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR lens lenses that covers a broad range of focal lengths, beginning at the wide-angle 30mm (35mm format equivalent) and it delivers accurate detail and brilliant colors and it features 10X optical continuous zoom, supports upto ISO 3200, 4-way VR image stabilizer. Nikon’s EXPEED digital image processing technology ensures high-quality pictures with stunning color and sharpness.

The camera also sports a new creative slider function that allows to adjust the brightness, vividness and hue of pictures to be taken to suit individual preferences.

The Nikon S8000 incorporates 4 advanced image stabilization features that produce a clear, beautiful, blur-free photos of any scene. They include:

  1. Lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function Offers compensation equivalent to an increase in shutter speed of roughly three stops
  2. The combination of a new image processing engine that supports high sensitivities and advanced noise reduction processing technology enables superior image quality in images captured at ISO 1600 with automatic ISO sensitivity adjustment and ISO 3200 with manual ISO sensitivity specification
  3. Motion detection function of the camera detects camera shake and subject movement with shooting, and automatically compensates by controlling shutter speed and ISO sensitivity
  4. New flash control allows shooting under dim lighting and the camera increases ISO sensitivity rather than opting for slower shutter speeds to allow the image sensor to acquire background lighting for bright, natural photos

Weighing about 183 gms, the Nikon COOLPIX S8000 digital camera has 3.0-inches 921K dots TFT color display at the back with improved visibility and glare reduction and the digital camera also features a Hi-speed USB 2.0 port connection, and HDMI digital port. In addition, the camera also offers ultra-fast start-up time of 0.75 seconds along with a very short shutter-release time of about 0.3 seconds making it ultra-fast point-and-shoot digital camera in the market.

Nikon COOLPIX S8000 allows HD video recording in 720p in upto 30 frames per seconds with ability to zoom optically with stereo sound and offers Dynamic Mode Image Stabilization for improved image clarity. In addition, the camera also has a dedicated video record button and the compact point-and-shoot digital camera is also equipped with Scene auto-selector feature which automatically recognizes the shooting situation and adjusts camera settings accordingly for great pictures anywhere.

In addition, the Nikon COOLPIX S8000 offers an improved Sport Continuous Mode, high-speed continuous shooting at up to approximately 4 fps for 45 frames (3 MP), plus a fast start-up time and a quick shutter-release time.

Available in in a choice of vibrant colors, including black, red, bronze and champagne silver, the Nikon COOLPIX S8000 is scheduled to be available in late March 2010.
