Installing "Old Hardware" Drivers On Windows 7

Dealing with the compatibility issue

Recently, I was stuck with installing drivers on my computer loaded with a newly purchased copy of Windows 7 Ultimate OS . I'm referring to a Pentium 4 processor, Intel 845G 64MB integrated graphics and 512MB DDR desktop. Windows 7 seemed to run well, with the luxurious features of Windows 7 like Aero and Media center turned off. The only bad thing is that Windows 7 is not very friendly with the older stuff. "Many" of the older applications (including drivers) were failing to install on the new OS. After some troubleshooting efforts, i found a simple way to deal with the compatibility issue.

Steps to install old hardware drivers on Windows 7:

Install a freeware file compression software 7 Zip,

Jump to the location where you have the setup/zipped driver file you are willing to install,

Right click on the setup file, unzip and extract it to any convenient location,

Now you can try updating your drivers by pointing the 'hardware update wizard' to the unzipped folder location,

Windows should accept the drivers, if it does not, you should encounter this message:

Select "Reinstall with recommend settings" and this should do the job,

If it still doesn't work out, all you can do is wait till a new fix is introduced via windows update or an update through the driver manufacture's website or just by upgrading your hardware.

The compatibility issue is just for the time being and all the applications that you used on XP will soon work with 7

The HTC HD2 with its Excellent Hardware but Archaic Operating System

The HTC HD2 with its Excellent Hardware but Archaic Operating System Cyberduck: Easy FTP for Mac! Best Torrent Uploader And Rippers [Vote] The HTC HD2 with its Excellent Hardware but Archaic Operating System I could not help myself from being impressed with the HTC HD2. Why? Because the combination of its physical attributes is truly exceptional Almost like a smartphone for $200 and a two-year subscription from T-Mobile. But I was somehow dismayed when I discovered that it has but an obsolete OS, the Windows Mobile 6.5 which cannot be upgraded with the WinMo 7 once it's out. Stunning Design Nevertheless, the minimalist design is really exceptional. Stainless steel, soft black rubber body, very chic appearance though it's a little larger than most smartphones (4.7 x 2.6 x .4 inches). This slightly bigger built is accounted to accommodate the 480 by 800 pixel resolution in its 4.3 inches WVGA screen (responsive but sluggish on the average). Beneat...

Free Antivirus Software for Mac – Review Review: Whole New World of Sony Free Realms MMO Game [Massive-Multiplayer Online] Several friends introduced me to the world of MMO or massive-multiplayer online games. I had no idea that there were a lot of options for in-game purchases for these online games. Some offer monthly subscriptions, pay-per-play, and free-to-play. These MMO games offer a wide array of games from older ones like the ever popular World of Warcraft to new releases like Warhammer Online. But when you look at these games, most of them cater to much older players. This is why Sony created the kid-friendly MMO Free Realms. My Sony Free Realms MMO Review I tried the games for myself. The graphics were rather impressive. I became int...
